This week was Start With Hello Week, a nationwide campaign set to prevent bullying. We discussed signs to look for if someone is feeling left out. Students also participated in Mix It Up Day on Thursday for lunch. Students were also challenged students to say hi to someone they might not normally talk to.
Your child was sent home with information on The Minute Challenge that will be starting on Monday. Attached to the flyer is your child's Clever log in information. Completing Imagine Math minutes will earn your student prizes!
Walktober is Here:
Throughout the month of October we encourage all students to walk to school at least three blocks or join our Walking School Bus and have their JIBE trip card scanned. Be sure to walk and have your card scanned as many times as you can between October 20th - 31st for a chance to win. Middle School After School Live Athletics - Volunteer Coaching Opportunities:
We are excited to be relaunching our Middle School ASLive Athletics program, which is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. We are looking for VOLUNTEER COACHES to make this possible. Teams will meet twice a week throughout the season for practices and games. Practices and games last from 3:15 – 4:15 PM every day except Wednesdays. This week, students will continue working on their Wixárika art projects using beads and beeswax.
Middle School Artists have been learning about the element of art, space. We took a detour from our plans to create a work of art using black and white paper to show positive and negative space.
Next we made a small work of art about space using tape and only primary colors of paint. Next week we will finally start our larger artwork using tape and paint colors of choice to make a work about positive and negative space.

This week students will continue unit 2 on expressing where they are in the house. Students will learn vocabulary for rooms in the house to briefly describe their house and tell where they are.
