This week was Red Ribbon Week along with a Spirit Week! We discussed making healthy choices for our bodies and focused in on vaping (since there has been an increase in teen usage). We discussed strategies companies use to make it appear appealing and how social media can make us feel pressure to do what everyone else seems to be doing.
Here are the papers that went home with your child on Friday.

8th Grade Retake/Make Up Day:
Wednesday, 10/29
Retake Requirements:
In class, your child was directed to leave a comment on any benchmark they are interested in retaking. From there, they will have a conversation with me regarding steps they will need to take in order to be prepared for the retake. For some benchmarks, it means having a completed study guide and for others it means completing the practice work from throughout the unit. This will also be a day where students are able to make up any missed benchmarks.
Ask your child if they have requested a retake or have a benchmark make up from Trimester 1.
