This week in Advisory, we had many visitors! High School students part of student council came in to tell 8th graders about leadership opportunities at Westlake Charter High School. There will be a leadership training day on Saturday, March 21st, for any student that is interested in leadership. Mrs. Rice also visited to review trimester 3 academic and behavior expectations. 8th graders have so many fun events to commemorate the end of their K-8 experience! This week we brainstormed groups of words that have meaning to each student. Then, we practiced sketching them out into a quilt square design, inspired by Faith Ringgold's work. When we return from break, we will draw our own quilt square and add the words, trace them, and finally paint our quilt squares with watercolor.
