What is Self Awareness?

Self-awareness is the ability to clearly and objectively see yourself and everything that makes you who you are. 

Begin this milestone by completing the pre-assessment shown below.

Strength: A beneficial skill or ability that one already possesses.

Challenge: A skill or ability that can be more difficult, and often requires more work to improve. 

Complete assignment 1.1 by listing 5 strengths and 5 challenges you have. 

Lesson 1.1

In order to become self-aware, it is important to understand our own individual strengths and challenges. It's important to see that we all have our own unique set of strengths and challenges.  What is a strength for one person might be a challenge for someone else and that's okay.  That's part of what makes us unique as individuals.  What's most important is that we learn to evaluate our own strengths and challenges so we can understand ourselves better.

Positive Qualities are our traits that reflect who we are.  Use the poster below to identify three positive qualities for yourself. 

We know that a strength is a good thing. These are the skills that are strong for us already. But, a challenge isn’t “bad”. It’s just not a strength yet.
