About GoCardless

GoCardless allows you to collect payments by Direct Debit, whether they are regular or one-off payments. You can even use it to take payments against a single invoice in installments. GoCardless for Xero will automatically mark your invoices as paid and record the GoCardless fee as an expense.

Receiving payments through GoCardless

Set up your account

GoCardless makes it to collect payments by Direct Debit. To open a GoCardless account and connect to Xero:

  1. Click your organisation name > Settings > Payment Services

  2. Next to Direct Debit click Get Started to reach GoCardless for Xero.

  3. Click Connect to GoCardless for Xero, complete the form and click Create Account.

  4. Complete the steps to connect and setup your account.

Ask customers to set up a Direct Debit mandate

You can do this in three ways:

  1. Send them a unique invitation (you can automatically send an invitation to new customers)

  2. Copy a generic invitation to include in mailings or on your website

  3. Add a 'Pay by Direct Debit' button to your invoices.
