Koko Head Hike (June 2018)

2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

The Koko head hike was one of the five weekend hikes that took place during the Hawaii Science program. The Koko Head hike was the most dreaded hike of them all as the trail consisted of old rail tracks leading to the top of the mountain. The trail was at such a vertical angle at many points that multiple breaks were required between. The hike was relatively long and was the most physically taxing of them of all. Although once we reached the top, the refreshing winds and beautiful views had us feeling a real sense of accomplishment and satisfaction for the journey. The hike had many of us sore the next few days though it was necessary for our physical health as we spent most of our time during the day working at the labs.
