Wake Tech Community College 

Wake Tech Community College has 7 locations in Wake County.  Wake Tech is an accredited college and offers more than 250 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs to prepare students for university transfer OR immediate employment.   

MANY high school seniors choose Wake Tech as their 1st step toward pursuing a university degree after high school.  

Degree Programs

Wake Tech offers more than 250 programs for  degrees, diplomas and certificates in a range of studies. These courses and programs prepare students to enter the workforce OR transfer to a university to continue their education – or both.  Nearly 100% of Wake Tech programs offer transfer options. 

Examples of Degree Programs:  Accounting & Finance, Graphic Design, Architectural Technology, Associate in Engineering, Automotive Systems Technology, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Construction Management, Cosmetology, Cyber Security, Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Science, Interior Design, MRI, Mammography, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Office Administration, Plumbing, Web Developing, & Welding Technology.

EXAMPLE: At Wake Tech, you could complete the Medical Sonography Program in 21 months - earning your Associate in Applied Science Degree - then work part-time as an Ultrasound Technician as you pay your way through Nursing School to earn your Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at a University!

Non-Degree Programs

FREE, ACCELERATED WORKFORCE TRAINING

Non-Degree Programs are for students who do not wish to pursue college after high school, but would like to be better prepared to directly enter the workforce with applicable skills. 

The Propel program offers dozens of short-term, non-degree courses in IT, health care, hospitality, skilled trades and other areas to get you into the workforce quickly. Other non-degree programs include English as a Second Language, high school equivalency preparation, small business support and courses for personal enrichment 

EXAMPLE: At Wake Tech, you could become a Certified Bookkeeper for free by taking workforce training courses.  Most businesses and corporations need bookkeepers to track all financial transactions: sales, purchases, payments, wages, depreciation, inventory, internal controls and fraud protection.  Bookkeepers earn an average of $19.78 per hour and you would have NO COLLEGE DEBT.

Transfer Resources

Wake Tech's University Transfer programs allow students to earn an associate degree while completing core coursework toward a bachelor's degree at a four-year institution.  Wake Tech has partner agreements with dozens of 4-year colleges and universities nationwide.

For UNC-System schools (Public Universities in NC), Wake Tech has specific agreements with each university to help students better plan their education and ensure successful transfer of course credits. 

Tuition at Wake Tech is about $1,300  per semester while many public universities in NC are $6,000-$8,000 per semester PLUS room & board.

EXAMPLE: At Wake Tech, you can spend 2 years earning your Associate in Arts OR Associate in Science Degree, then transfer to East Carolina University as a JUNIOR and immediately begin your major in Accounting.  On this pathway, you would graduate from ECU in just 2 years, with a complete degree in Accounting - paying THOUSANDS less in tuition.

Special Admissions Programs

Wake Tech also has special transfer partnerships with 7 UNC-system universities.  These are guaranteed admission programs for students who desire to continue their education and obtain a bachelor's degree at that specific university upon completion of an eligible associate degree with a required GPA.  Applicants must meet and maintain certain requirements to maintain eligibility. 

Students apply to Special Admissions Programs during their 1st year at Wake Tech Community College.
