Community colleges do not deny admissions to any student and offer much lower tuition rates than universities. They offer 2-year degrees which allow students to graduate with an associate’s degree or certificate and start working after 2 years. They also offer programs and pathways for students to transfer to a university. Our local community college is Wake Technical Community College (Wake Tech).
Schools that offer in-state tuition to students who are considered residents in that state. In North Carolina, we have 16 public universities and we call these our “UNC System Schools”. Public Universities have lower tuition rates than private schools since they are publicly funded.
Schools that offer the same tuition rate for students who are residents of that state as they do for students who are considered out-of-state. These colleges usually have higher tuition rates, but sometimes offer substantial financial aid & scholarship packages to students who qualify.
