Ottery Youth Care & Education Centre is the only institution for learners between the ages 11 to 18 years old who are in need of care and protection under the supervision of the Western Cape Education Department.

Placement into this Centre takes place through the Children’s court as stipulated in the Children’s Act. While in care, learners must complete their education, be part of family reintegration as well as therapeutic and developmental programmes.

A board of governors oversees the activities of the centre. The centre manager coordinates the daily activities. Learners follow the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS). All learners have access to a computer suite and technology in the academic classrooms.
