Schools of Skills cater for learners who have a primary cognitive barrier to learning and who are not able cope with the curriculum. These learners are at risk of not gaining entry into a Public Ordinary Secondary School due to poor scholastic achievement.
The curriculum offering at the Schools of Skills therefore caters for the needs of the learner. The learner is exposed to general education subjects for 50 % of their instructional time per week while the other 50% of their time is spent doing vocational subjects. (refer to curriculum web page).The learners starts the 4 year programme at the age of 14 and finishes Year 4 at the 18 years of age.
