Course Description: This singleton course is designed for students with no previous guitar experience all the way to students who have advance guitar experience. Students will receive guidance and direction in solving problems related to playing the guitar at a beginning level and will learn many of the different styles, skills and techniques required to become a successful guitarist.

Course Description: This course combines elements of music and literature to provide an opportunity for students to develop basic skills in the specific creative medium of songwriting. Songwriting Basics is designed with beginning songwriters in mind, although some experience playing an instrument (especially piano, guitar, or ukulele) is strongly recommended.
Course Content: This class will focus on foundational elements of songcraft, such as melody, harmony, and lyrics. Assignments will include prompt-based writing exercises, musical and poetic analysis, a historical research project, and the performance of both existing songs and original songs.
