Course Description: The Military Science Junior Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program prepares students for leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. This program is designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to be better citizens, and the program promotes graduation from high school with a postsecondary focus. JROTC is not a military recruitment effort, and there is no service requirement or expectation that a student join any branch of service after graduation.
Course Content: JROTC is a character development and leadership program focused on self-discipline, physical fitness, and civic responsibility. Students are required to wear their JROTC uniform one full day each week as assigned by the instructor.
