Pathways - Level 1

The purpose of the Level 1 is to support students to

  • Experience success

  • Start to develop an understanding of workplace expectations, rights and responsibilities

  • Consider behaviours which can impact on the workplace

  • Build communication skills which are important in developing workplace literacy.


The programme is based on three key themes:

  • The Workplace

  • Personal Awareness

  • Teams and Communication

Pathways - Level 2

Level 2 Pathways will focus on

  • Pathway and careers planning

  • Building workplace literacy by considering workplace arrangements in general, along with specific behaviours that can impact on the workplace

  • Developing individual skills and knowledge to support life beyond school

  • Preparing for work

  • The workplace and industry standards

  • Personal development

Pathways - Level 3

Level 3 Pathways will focus on:

  • Developing students financial literacy

  • Enhancing workplace literacy

  • Future planning and preparation for leaving school


The programme is based on three themes:

  • Personal skills and the workplace

  • The workplace and industry standards

  • Personal development and industry standards

Employability Skills

Understanding and developing capability in the employability skills is a key part of each Pathways programme. The employability skills are:

  • communication

  • positive attitude

  • resilience

  • self-management

  • teamwork

  • thinking skills

  • willingness to learn

Work Experience

Students in Pathways programmes will be involved in workplace exposure, exploration and experience. Students in Year 12 and 13 will be able undertake extended work in a range of settings. These work experiences will be under the auspices of the Gateway Programme.
