Smelling

Day 6- Sit in your SP for 10 minutes and see how many smells you can smell. Make a list of as many things as you can-- at least five more than you identified on Day 1. This can be tricky- especially for younger kids. Close your eyes and try your best to focus on what you smell rather than what you see. Older students might want to try this a few times and on the second or third try also write short descriptions of what is producing the smell (ie. grass smell from a neighbor mowing the lawn)

*Extension- This is a fun extension and also a good alternate activity for younger students or siblings who have trouble sitting still. Take an egg carton (or whatever container you have) and walk around your yard collecting things that have a strong smell. Make sure you focus on things that have a strong smell- not things that look nice. (Not all flowers have a strong smell!)
