Policy 2200: Student Dress Code
The Washington County School District believes that a safe, respectful, and distraction-free environment is essential for learning. All students are expected to dress and groom themselves in a manner that shows respect for the educational community and maintains a professional school atmosphere.
General Standards: Clothing must be clean, in good repair, and appropriate for school and everyday school activities. Footwear must be worn at all times.
Coverage Requirements: Clothing must fully cover the torso, be appropriate in length, and ensure that undergarments are completely hidden. Materials must not be see-through, and garments such as tank tops and tube tops are not permitted.
Hats and Headwear: Hats and head coverings may be worn, provided they do not disrupt school activities, pose a safety hazard, or conceal a student's face. Your face must remain visible at all times.
Prohibited Content: Clothing, jewelry, accessories, or personal items may not display any language, images, or symbols that are vulgar, obscene, or sexually suggestive. Additionally, items that promote racism, discrimination, hate, violence, gangs, or any illegal substances (tobacco, alcohol, drugs) are strictly forbidden.
Note: School administration has final authority on determining the appropriateness of student dress and appearance. Repeated violations of the dress code will result in standard school disciplinary action.
Consequences for violation of the Student Dress and Grooming Policy
A student in violation of the Student Dress Code may be sent home to make the changes necessary to be in compliance with policy or be given an appropriate shirt or jacket to wear for the remainder of the day. The student may return to class as soon as the required changes are made.
Suspension from school may occur for continued disregard for the Student Dress and Grooming Policy.
