WASHS Choirs perform high quality choral literature to provide historical and cultural perspective, extended student engagement, and aesthetic depth. Successful students will demonstrate growth in musicianship, vocal technique, music literacy, and rehearsal and performance discipline.
Schedule choir as an academic elective period
There are two vocal music strands from which to choose: Non-Auditioned and/or Auditioned
Open to all students (grades 9-12) without audition
Most 9th and 10th grade students will start in this group before advancing to Chamber Choir
Schedule Concert Choir (only); 1 credit
No audition requirement
Requires family service and financial obligations to the music boosters (WASBA)
Schedule Symphonic Band/Concert Choir (combo); 1 credit
No audition requirement
Most students are required to participate in marching band; see below

Open to selected students (grades 9-12) based on audition
Many 11th and 12th grade students fit into this ensemble as a natural progression of their ability
This group can serve as a student's only curricular ensemble OR in addition to Concert Choir (for an additional elective credit)

Schedule Wind Ensemble/Chamber Choir (combo); 1 credit
Requires a successful Chamber Choir audition and acceptance into Wind Ensemble; consult Mr. Vensel and Mr. RitterÂ

Open to all students; as desired, small groups work on their own time and request coaching from the music faculty (dependent upon the availability of the chosen advisor). Performance opportunities are available at the Small Ensembles Concert, in conjunction with large ensemble concerts, and through community outreach events (ex. Destination Arts).

Treble choir is a soprano/alto choir for those with higher voices (typically women) that rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM. This ensemble is open to all WASHS students including those not enrolled in a curricular choir.
Tribesmen is a tenor/bass choir for those with lower voices (typically men) that rehearses on Monday and Wednesday between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM. This ensemble is open to all WASHS students including those not enrolled in a curricular choir.
Participation requires recommendation of the choir director and successful audition for District 7, Region V, and All-State choirs. For more information, visit http://www.pmeadistrict7.org/.

Hang pants by the creases, with the seams together in the middle (like dress pants)
To preserve the creases and prevent wrinkles
Place jacket on hanger (as if it is being draped over your shoulders); Check pockets for belongings

Place garment bag over attire
Hang garment bag in the proper closet/on the proper Z-rack with the name/number tag toward the front so it can be read easily
No shoes or personal items are to be placed in the bag with your attire
Keep garment bag off the floor (especially on a bus)
Non-destructive alterations are permitted for a better fit
DO NOT CUT ANY ATTIRE ITEM
Use of safety pins permitted for quick/temporary adjustments
Tacking and non-destructive hems are permitted
Ensure that all alterations can be undone as needed for future singers
Shoes must be cleaned before each performance; If muddy, wipe off as much mud as possible, then use a spray cleaner (like Windex)
Shoes are your responsibility between performances
At home laundering of shirt only permitted

Shirt must be laundered at home following the spring concert; return to Choir Room within 1 week of spring concert
Jacket and pants are to be hung properly between concerts
