The primary intent of the high school music program is to provide interested students with the opportunity to experience and perform a wide variety of instrumental and choral music styles. Course content is designed to promote increased student accuracy in sight-reading; consistent tone quality and intonation; appropriate use of expression, articulation/diction, phrasing, and dynamics; performance of medium to advanced level repertoire. Upon completion of the senior high music program, students will have demonstrated above average music reading skills and will have communicated an accurate understanding of instrumental/choral music as an art form through performance and academic assessment mediums.
Provide students with the opportunity for creative expression, aesthetic response, and a sense of personal and social accomplishment through instrumental and/or vocal performance
Provide an atmosphere which promotes understanding and application of self-discipline necessary for musically effective ensemble communication and participation
