Positive
Fashion Club meetings moved from after school to a 20 minute flex period during the school day. The officers were unsure of how to navigate the change to shorter meetings. They reassessed the scope of activity and agreed that they may reach new students that could not stay after school in the old model. The club will meet additionally after school (1x/month) for large projects.
Negative
Jayden was removed from the starting line up for the big game. He is hurt and feels like his spot was stolen by another player.
Possible Resolution
Coach senses Jayden’s negativity and pulls him aside to explain the many factors that lead to change (ex./ the substituted player may be a better physical match for the opponent; the team can only build depth by giving players time on the court; another player has been working hard to improve his game and deserves a shot). They win and lose as a team and all players deserve Jayden’s support. The coaching staff will reevaluate before the next opponent, but it’s important that Jayden be ready to sub in and continue to improve his own ability.
