How is it different from GCSE French & Spanish in the regular curriculum?

Twilight GCSE French & Spanish will be delivered over 2 years rather than 3. Typically one module will be covered per half term. Therefore the course will be quite fast paced and students will need to keep up with their vocabulary learning regularly at home.

Entry Requirements

This course is open to students entering both Years 9 & 10. Students must be prepared to learn vocabulary regularly at home and be willing to learn at a faster pace.

Please note there is a maximum number of students required  of 25 places for this subject and does also need a minimum of 10 students to run. If the course is oversubscribed, preference will be given to students entering Year 10. Any new Year 9 students who miss out will then be given priority should they wish to take this qualification when they enter Year 10.

Practical information

Course duration:

Two years

Who will deliver the course?

Mrs Moore & Ms Brown

When?

TBC. We will update you on the specific days for each of these classes once confirmed. We will be able to confirm the date before the application is due and we will advise students of the days as soon as we are able to.

What will you need?

A determined attitude and a willingness to contribute in lessons as well as a passion for learning about language and culture.

Where?

TBC, please check your timetables in September.

Can I study this with other additional qualifications?

Due to the demands of homework  and the pace at which this is delivered it would not be advisable to undertake this course alongside other  schemes or qualifications. However, this is a decision which should be made dependent upon each student. Some students have successfully managed the demands of two programmes, please take into account the demands on a student's time in relation to outside of school activities and sporting commitments. This programme can effectively support a student's  participation in the Oxbridge programme. In the past, highly motivated students have successfully managed this alongside the DofE in Year 10 and have used their  language studies to satisfy the skill section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.  This is of course subject to timetables and availability of programmes each year.
