Focus 9 highlights nine essential skills that will prepare our students to be successful in the classroom and beyond. We believe these skills will have a lasting impact and will benefit students in all aspects of life.
#1 Accountability (ac·count·a·bil·i·ty) - the fact or condition of being accountable; responsibility.
#2 Consistency (con·sist·en-cy) - something that is done in the same way over time.
#3 Engagement (en·gage·ment) - Engagement refers to the degree of attention, curiosity, interest, optimism, and passion that students show when they are learning or being taught.
#4 Organization (or·gan·i-za-tion) - to sort, arrange, order, group, or categorize items in a specific way.
#5 Participation (par·tic·i·pa-tion) - take part in an action or endeavor.
#6 Positive Attitude (pos·i·tive at·ti·tude) - Having a positive attitude means being optimistic about situations, interactions, and yourself. People with positive attitudes remain hopeful and see the best even in difficult situations.
#7 Preparedness (Pre-par-ed-ness) - ready to to deal with, learn, and/or participate
#8 Self Advocacy (self-ad·vo·ca·cy) the action of representing oneself or one's views or interests.
#9 Time Management (time man·age·ment) - the ability to use one's time effectively or productively.
