I enjoyed doing this arrangement more because it is a basic shape that is symmetrical and hence, the placement of each flower is simpler and easier to remember. I named this arrangement 'Virgin Beauty' as pink Gerbera innocence, purity and cheerfulness.
Plants/materials used:
Gerbera
Golden phoenix
Rumohra
Murraya
Cordyline
Ribbon
Skills used:
Design measurement
Staking (for weak/broken stems)
Multi-usage of flower's plastic covering
French ribbon
Process:
(Labeling index)
First Gerbera - 1
Second Gerbera - 2
Third Gerbera - 3
........
Tenth Gerbera - 10
First, cut half of the plastic covering that comes with the Gerbera and push it up towards the flower to support it. Place 1 (tallest) in the top centre of the sponge. Measure and cut 2 and insert it directly below 1. Measure and cut 3 and 4 and insert each one on each side of the sponge. Measure and cut 5 and place it facing outwards, below 2. Cut 6 and 7, insert them both on either side of the sponge. Insert 8 under 5, facing upwards. 1, 2, 5, 8 should be equidistant from each other. Insert 9 and 10 in the corners of the sponge.
Next, add the foliage. Insert the Cordyline leaves at the back of the arrangement and along the bottom layer of the sponge. Insert the largest stalk of Rumohra behind 1 for support. Cut remaining Rumohra and Murraya into smaller stalks and place along the bottom layer of the sponge to fill up the gaps. Insert the foliage in different directions to give the arrangement a natural look. Trim the Golden Phoenix and use it to fill up remaining gaps.
Finally, spray water onto the arrangement to keep flowers fresh and add a French ribbon to finalise the arrangement, completing it's look.
Reflection:
I like this arrangement because it is simpler than previous arrangements as it only uses Gerbera as the focal flower. I feel that this arrangement is more appropriate for happier occasions as the flowers used are brighter (pink Gerbera). Also, i managed to complete this arrangement with less obstacles and faster than usual, which gave me the confidence that i can improve more in this module.
Gerbera - innocence/purity
This arrangement dealt mainly with Gerbera. The bright pink Gerbera, being the only flower in the arrangement, brings attention to it. The foliage used are all green to allow the Gerberas to stand out and be the focal point of the arrangement. As usual, the Rumohra is used to cover the base of the floral sponge. The green Cordyline leaves are arranged around the Gerbera such that it appears as if the pink Gerberas 'emerge' from the centre of the sponge. In order to fill the gaps amongst he sponge, the Golden Phoenix was used. Since the Golden Phoenix has a lighter green colour, it compliments the bright pink Gerberas next to them. Lastly, the Murraya leaves add simplicity to the arrangement. It peeks out from the left side, behind the Gerberas. The leaves are pointy and have a glossy surface, different from the other foliage used. This finishes the arrangement.
I feel that this arrangement is in a way, shows simplicity. This arrangement can be used during weddings or other happy events like graduation too!
