Assignment #4

This arrangement was made to let us explore doing flower arrangements of different shapes. I feel that rectangular arrangements is effective when being used to cover and decorate wider areas.

Process: Doing a rectangular arrangement makes the overall appearance of the arrangement look wider but flatter. After adding water to the sponge, 5 stalks of carnation were cut and inserted into each side of the floral sponge. Then, the rumohra stalks were separated into its smaller petioles and inserted into the lower section of the sponge to fill the layer. Next, about 5 to 6 pom pom stalks were cut and inserted in between the carnation stalk. Following up, the finger and yellow palms were cut in half and shortened, then inserted into both of the shorter side of the sponge to create an 'opening effect', such that when the rest of the shorter and smaller pom pom stalks was inserted, attention would be drawn to the carnations and pom poms. The statice were then added towards the outer edge of the sponge as it creates a flowing effect outwards, 'opening' up the arrangement even more. Using the leftover stalks of flowers, the exposed spaces of the sponge was covered up, making the arrangement look more abundant. Lastly, a french ribbon was added and inserted with a metal wire to complete the look.
