当研究室は、他大学院での修士号・専門職学位取得者の、博士（後期）課程への外部進学を歓迎します。

当研究室への博士課程での進学を希望する方向けに、重要事項についてまとめます。
問い合わせを行う前に、事前に熟読するようにお願い致します。

This page explains some important information for those who wish to continue on to the PhD course at this laboratory. Please read it carefully before making an inquiry.

博士課程として進学を希望する方には、基礎的な研究能力と研究に従事した経験を求めます。
最低限のラインとして、修士論文の執筆は必須です。（執筆中の場合も可。）
出願要件を満たすけれども修士論文が無い場合（例えばMBAを出た場合）は、面談により研究基礎能力や研究への理解を確認します。

経営学関連の学士号や修士号を取得していることは必須としません。
理系で修士や博士を取得された方の進学も歓迎しております。
ただし、当研究室は経営学の研究室のため、博士論文は経営学的コンテンツに限られます。
そのため研究計画の作成において必要な範囲を自主的に勉強し、その理解が研究計画に適切に反映されていることが必要になります。

また、英語での学会発表や論文執筆が必要になりますので、ある程度の英語力を求めます。
目安として、TOEIC基準で最低650点程度は必要です。

Those who wish to join to the PhD course in this laboratory are required to have basic research ability and experience engaged in research. As a minimum, it is necessary to have written a master's thesis. (It is acceptable if you are currently writing one.)

It is not necessary to have a bachelor's or master's degree related to business management. We welcome those who have obtained a master's or PhD in other academic fields. However, since the scope of this laboratory is on a business management, PhD theses are limited to in a business context. Therefore, you need to study independently within the scope necessary for creating a research plan, and that understanding is appropriately reflected in the research proposition.

当研究室で研究に従事する以上は、研究室内の研究領域と高い親和性があることが前提となります。
これまでに当研究室で発表された論文をよくご確認いただき、その中で興味がある研究内容があるかを、まず確認してください。
興味を引く論文が見つかったら、それらの研究計画書の中で引用することで、提案する研究計画と当研究室とのマッチングを明示してください。
この段階で興味を引く論文が見当たらなければ、他の研究室を選択された方が良いでしょう。

If you seek to engage in research in this laboratory, your interesting must be highly familiar with the research field within the laboratory. Please first carefully review the papers published by this laboratory and see if there are any research topics that interest you. If you find any papers that interest you, please cite them in your research proposition to clearly show that your proposing research matches our laboratory. If you cannot find any papers that interest you, it may be better to choose another laboratory.

研究テーマ / Research theme

当研究室での研究テーマは、学生ごとに独自の研究テーマを相談のうえで決定します。
理系の研究室でよくある、研究室内の特定の研究テーマを担当するような形ではありません。

In this lab, each student decides on their own research theme after consultation with supervisor. 

指導方針 / Policy of the supervision

毎週特定のゼミの時間に研究の進捗報告を発表してもらい、それについて教員とディスカッションする形の指導が基本となります。
学会発表や論文執筆時には、追加で時間を確保して対応することもあります。
指導は密接に行うタイプの研究室です（放置系ではありません）。

フルタイム学生には原則として、学生室に固定席が提供されます。
大岡山でのキャンパスライフを楽しむことができます。

Students present progress reports on their research at a specific seminar time every week and discuss them with the supervisor.
Additional time may be set aside for presentations at conferences and writing papers.
This lab aim to provide sufficient supervision to students (it is not a leave-it-alone type). 

As a rule, full-time students are provided with fixed seats in the student rooms.
You may be able to enjoy campus life in Tokyo.

学会発表や論文執筆について / Policy for the publication

小さな発見でも、積極的に学会発表や論文執筆を行い、成果化することを重視します。
論文については経営学の国際的な上位ジャーナルでの採択を目指しますが、妥協は積極的に行います。

また成果発表において、当研究室は「共著主義」です。
これは、一般的な（文系的な）日本の経営学の研究室とは文化が異なる点になります。
当研究室には、研究に十分貢献した者は著者として名前を連ねる権利を、教員・学生問わず持つものという信条があります。
またこのようにすることで、各メンバーによる他のメンバーの研究への積極的な協力や協同を促進してます。
そのため少なくとも当研究室内で実施する研究、つまり博士論文に関連する論文については、単著での発表は基本的にできないことを、最初にご理解ください。

なお、論文発表・投稿時において、その論文がジャーナルで受理されるまでに中心的な役割を果たした者は、学生・教員問わず筆頭著者となる権利を得ます。
またコレスポンディング・オーサーは筆頭者と主指導教員との共同コレスポを基本としています。
そのため、自分が中心として行った研究は自分の成果であることが明示されますので、ご安心ください。

We place importance on turning even small discoveries into results by proactively presenting at academic conferences and writing papers. We aim to have papers accepted by top international business journals, but we are willing to compromise.

When presenting or submitting a paper, a student or faculty member who has played a central role in the paper's acceptance will have the right to be the first author. In addition, the corresponding author is basically a joint correspondence between the first author and the main supervisor. Therefore, you can rest assured that any research you have led will be clearly stated as your own achievement.

研究アプローチ / Preferred research methods

定量アプローチ（データ分析）を基本とします。データ分析が未経験の人には、研究室内での指導がありますので、ご安心ください。
ただし、自分で修得するという気概は必須です。
なお研究目的上、定性アプローチを行う必要がある場合に、それを妨げることはありません。

The preferred methods in this lab is a quantitative (data analysis) approach. Those who have no experience with data analysis will receive training within the lab, so don't worry.
But, you must be determined to learn the technique on your own.
However, when a qualitative approach is necessary for research purposes, this will not be hindered.

修了期間の目安について / Estimated time to completion

原則として、標準年限である3年での修了・博士号取得を目指します。
これには当然ながら、修了要件を満たし、博士論文の執筆を完了し、審査を通過することが必要です。
これらが満たせない場合には、3年での修了はできません。

特に社会人の方や、フルタイム学生だけれどもアルバイトで生計を立てる必要がある方の場合は、必然的に研究時間の確保が不十分になり、進捗が滞りがちですので、4年以上かかる可能性が高くなります。

In principle, we aim to complete the program and obtain a PhD in the standard time of three years. This naturally requires that you meet the completion requirements, complete the writing of your PhD thesis, and pass the examination. If you do not meet these requirements, you will not be able to complete the program in three years.

In particular, for those who are working, or full-time students who need to earn a living through part-time work, it is inevitable that they will not be able to secure enough time for research, and progress will tend to be delayed, so it is likely that it will take more than four years.

進路について / Career paths

博士号取得後の進路については、言うまでもなく各学生の希望を尊重し、教員の方から干渉することはありません。
もしも経営学分野の大学教員の道に進みたいという場合には、できる範囲でのサポートは行います。

Needless to say, we respect the wishes of each student regarding their career path after obtaining a doctorate, and faculty members will not interfere with their choices.
If you would like to pursue a career as a university professor in the field of business management in Japan, we will support you to the extent possible.

最初に、特定の教育課程における具体的な修了要件は、ウェブ上で公開できないということを明記しておきます。
そのうえで、当研究室が博士号を取得するに足る修了生に求める要件を説明します。

First, we would like to clarify that we cannot disclose the specific completion requirements for a particular course online. With that in mind, we would like to explain the requirements that this laboratory has for students to be able to graduate and obtain PhD.

研究遂行能力について / Research ability

博士号を取得する者には、自分一人で研究計画を策定し、学会発表し、論文を投稿し、掲載にまで至ることができる能力の獲得を求めます。これを達成するために、以下の細分化した要件を定めています。

Those who obtain PhD are expected to acquire the ability to independently formulate a research plan, present at a conference, submit a paper, and get it published. To achieve this, the following detailed requirements have been established.

学会発表について / Presentation at conferences

博士号を取得する者には、当然のように学会発表に申し込み、発表し、他の研究者と議論できる能力を獲得することを求めます。これは国内学会だけでなく、国際学会についても同様です。
この能力を身に着けるために、一年に複数回のコンスタントな学会発表を求めます。

Those who obtain PhD are naturally expected to acquire the ability to apply for and present at conferences, and to discuss with other researchers. To acquire this ability, this lab requires consistent attendance at conferences several times a year.

査読付き論文の受理と発表について / Publication of peer-reviewed papers

博士号を取得する者には、研究成果を学会発表するだけで満足せず、論文として成果を世界的に発表し、学術の知を発展させる能力を得ることを求めます。
その証拠として、博士論文を構成する論文においては、一定のインパクトがある学術誌での2本以上の査読付き論文の採択を達成することを求めます。（3年での修了を現実的にするため、全ての論文の受理までは求めていません。）

Those who obtain PhD are not satisfied with merely presenting their research results at conferences, but are expected to acquire the ability to publish their results worldwide as papers and advance academic knowledge. As evidence of this, this lab requires that you succeed to get acceptance of two or more peer-reviewed papers in academic journals with a certain level of impact. (In order to make it realistic to complete the program in three years, it does not require all papers in thesis to be accepted.)

専門家としての独自性の確立について / Establishing your uniqueness as an expert

博士号を取得する者には、特定の学術領域に関する専門家としての第一歩を踏み出すことを期待します。そのために、ほんの小さな部分でも構いませんので、専門家として世界で唯一の独自性を確立することを求めます。これは、査読付き論文の執筆と発表を通して自然と獲得されます。

Those who obtain PhD should take their first step as an expert in a specific academic field. To achieve this, this lab expects them to establish a uniqueness, even if it is only a small part of it. This is naturally achieved through the writing and publication of peer-reviewed papers.

当研究室での博士論文は、複数のジャーナル論文を包含した、一貫した一つの大論文として完成することを想定しています。
当研究室では、博士論文を構成するジャーナル論文の標準数を3本と定めています。
研究テーマ上、4本以上になる場合にはそれでも構いません。

博士論文の全体像は、概ね以下のようになります。

1. 博士論文全体の研究背景と大目的

2. 博士論文全体に共通する文献レビューと、（包括的な）リサーチクエスチョンの提示

分量としては、日本語でおよそ10~20万字、ワードファイルで100~200ページほどとなります。

In this lab, PhD thesis is expected to be completed as one coherent large thesis that includes multiple journal articles.
The standard number of journal articles that make up a the thesis is three in this lab.
If the research topic requires four or more, this is acceptable.

The overall picture of the thesis is roughly as follows.

1. Research background and overall objective of the thesis

2. Literature review common to the entire journal papers in the thesis and statement of a (comprehensive) research question

3. Presentation of sub-objectives that subdivide the overall objective

4. Research 1 (journal paper 1)

   1. Research background and objectives (corresponding to one of the sub-objectives above)

   2. Literature review and statement of a (specific) research question

   3. (Hypothesis building if necessary)

   4. Methods

   5. Results

   6. Discussion

The length is approximately 50,000-100,000 characters in English, and about 100-200 pages in a Word file.

当研究室を志望する場合、上記の博士論文の研究計画が完成している場合にのみ（完成に至った場合にのみ）、受験を認めています。
具体的には、以下の内容を全て不足無く埋めた研究計画書の完成が必要です。
なお、最初に問い合わせ時にここまで完成させる必要はありません。

想定する研究計画書の構成

1. 博士論文全体の研究背景と大目的

2. 博士論文全体に共通する文献レビューと、（包括的な）リサーチクエスチョンの提示（最低でも10以上の文献を引用すること）

3. 大目的を細分化した小目的の提示

注意点

• 国際的ジャーナルでの論文掲載を目指しますので、引用文献は国際誌のジャーナル論文を中心としてください。

• 3つ（以上）のジャーナル論文の内容は、直列関係にならないようにしてください。例えば、論文1の内容が論文2の前提となるように設計してはいけません。これは、経営学領域では論文が査読を通過して受理されるまでに、1年以上かかる場合がよくあるためです。そのため前の論文が次の論文の前提になってしまうと、いつまで経っても次の論文が投稿できず、3年間で修了できなくなるリスクが大幅に上昇してしまいます。全ての論文の内容が並列関係・独立関係になるように、注意してください。

If you wish to apply to this laboratory, you will only be allowed to take the entrance exam if the research proposal for your PhD thesis above has been completed.
Specifically, you will need to complete a research proposition that includes all of the following information without any omissions.
However, it is not necessary to complete this at the time of your initial inquiry to this lab. 

Expected structure of the research proposal

1. Research background and large objective of the PhD thesis

2. Literature review common to the all researches in the thesis and presentation of a (comprehensive) research question (at least 10 or more references should be cited)

3. Presentation of sub-objectives that break down the large objective

4. Research 1 (journal paper 1)

   1. Research background and objectives (corresponding to one of the sub-objectives above)

   2. Literature review and presentation of a (specific) research question (at least 10 or more references should be cited)

   3. (Hypothesis building if necessary)

   4. Methods (must be specific and realistic)

   5. Expected results

5. Research 2 (journal paper 2)
   (Omitted as it is the same as Research 1)

6. Research 3 (journal paper 3)
   (Omitted as it is the same as Research 1)

7. Expected contribution of the PhD thesis

8. Research schedule (If you aim to complete in three years, you must submit all papers by the summer of the third year, and if possible, by the end of the second year. There is no coursework in the PhD course, so be careful not to include it in your schedule.)

9. References (If you add up all of these, the number of references should be around 40.)

Notes

• Since you are aiming to publish your paper in an international journal, your citations should be mainly international journal papers.

• The contents of the three (or more) journal papers should not be in a serial relationship. For example, do not design the contents of paper 1 to be the premise of paper 2. This is because in the field of business management, it often takes more than a year for a paper to pass peer review and be accepted. If the previous paper becomes the premise of the next paper, you will not be able to submit the next paper no matter how long it takes, and the risk of not being able to complete in three years will increase significantly. Be careful to make sure that the contents of all exptected papers are in a parallel and independent relationship.

経営工学系とイノベーション科学系のいずれにおいても、入試は面接形式で実施されます。
系により形式はやや異なりますが、いずれもプレゼンテーション（自己紹介、経歴、修士課程の研究、博士課程での研究計画）の後に質疑応答を行います。

いずれの系においても複数の教員によって厳格に審査をされますので、希望指導教員から受け入れ内諾を得られても、プレゼンテーションや質疑応答の結果として準備や能力が不十分であると判断されれば、もちろん不合格となります。

審査基準を公開することはもちろんできませんが、一般論として以下のような発表は評価の対象外（即座に不合格判定）となるでしょう。

• プレゼンテーション資料が丁寧に作成されていない。（例：誤字脱字が多；フォントがバラバラ；文章を張り付けただけ；文字だけ）

• 発表が十分に準備がなされておらず、伝える気が無いような発表になっている。

• 指定された発表時間を常識の範囲を超えて超過したり、あるいは非常に早く終わる。

• プレゼンテーション資料や研究計画の作成に代行を利用している（生成AIによる代筆や、生成された内容のコピペを含む）。

• 存在しない参考文献や論文を引用している。

また、以下のような質疑応答をしてしまうことも、評価の対象外となるでしょう。

• 自分の過去の研究や、博士課程での研究計画の詳細を聞かれても、適切に答えることができない。

• プレゼンテーションや研究計画書の中に含めた概念、理論、技術、統計手法、その他専門用語の定義を、正しく答えることができない。

• 引用している論文の詳細を聞かれて、適切に説明することができない。

これらの項目は合格のための要件ではなく、一つでも満たせば即座に不合格となり得る、面接に臨むうえで最低限要求されている条件であることに注意してください。
言うまでもないことですが、発表・質疑応答の両方を十分に準備したうえで、面接に臨まなければなりません。

In both the departments, the entrance examination is conducted in an interview format.
Although the exact procedures differ slightly by program, candidates must deliver a presentation—covering a self-introduction, academic/professional background, master’s research, and proposed doctoral research—followed by a question-and-answer session.

A panel of multiple faculty members rigorously evaluates every applicant. Therefore, even if you have obtained informal acceptance from your prospective supervisor, you will be rejected if there are shortcomings in your presentation or your responses during Q&A.

While we cannot disclose the evaluation criteria, the following types of presentations will generally be excluded from consideration (i.e., lead to immediate failure):

• Presentation materials that are not carefully prepared (e.g., numerous typographical errors, inconsistent fonts, slides that are merely copied-and-pasted text, or text-only slides).

• A presentation that is clearly under-prepared and gives the impression that the candidate is not committed to effective communication.

• Exceeding the allotted presentation time far beyond reasonable limits, or finishing far too quickly.

• Outsourcing the preparation of presentation materials or the research plan (including ghost-writing by generative AI or copy-and-pasting AI-generated content).

• Citing non-existent references or papers.

Likewise, the following types of Q&A responses will also result in disqualification:

• Inability to answer satisfactorily when asked about details of your past research or your proposed doctoral research.

• Inability to accurately explain the concepts, theories, techniques, statistical methods, or other terms included in your presentation.

• Inability to explain adequately the papers you have cited when questioned about them.

Please note that these items are not criteria for passing; rather, they are minimum conditions expected of every candidate. Failing even one of them may lead to immediate rejection.
Needless to say, you must prepare thoroughly for both the presentation and the Q&A before attending the interview.

博士進学希望の方は、どうぞお気軽にメールでお問い合わせください。
いきなり上記の研究計画書を完成させることは大変だと理解していますので、最初の問い合わせ時に完成した研究計画書を提出する必要はありません。
しかし、具体的にやりたいテーマくらいは熟考し、4ページ程度のドラフトを作成したうえで、ご連絡ください。

• 履歴書（ＣＶ）

• 修士論文（未完成の場合は現在できているところまでの資料。修士論文が無い場合は省略可。）

• 研究業績リスト（もしあれば）

• 書けている範囲までの研究計画書（最初の段階では4ページ以上程度のもの）

We understand that it can be difficult to complete the above research proposition right away, so there is no need to submit a completed research proposition when you first contact us.
However, please think carefully about the specific topic you would like to engage in and prepare a draft of about four pages before contacting. 

When making an inquiry, please attach the following materials to your email. 

• Curriculum vitae (CV) 

• Master's thesis (if incomplete, please submit materials up to the point you have completed it. If you do not have a master's thesis, this can be omitted.) 

• List of research achievements (if you have any) 

• Research proposal that you have written it (at least four pages at the initial stage)
