In October 1953, Marumitsu Department Store installed a music siren next to its rooftop observation deck and sounded it for the first time on December 11 of that year. Marumitsu chose “The Moon Over the Ruined Castle” because it was composed by someone from Sendai.
1953年10月、丸光百貨店は屋上展望台の隣にミュージックサイレンを設置し、同年12月11日に初めて鳴らした。丸光が『荒城の月』を選んだのは、仙台出身の方が作曲された曲だったためである。

At some point after, Miyagi Prefectural Police requested the store play something at 9 PM to tell children to go home to limit delinquency, so they played From the New World - Largo. After a short time, the 9 PM song changed to Ko no Michi. It's believed that an employee had to manually play on the keyboard, but there now exists a drum for Ko no Michi belonging to this siren in the Sendai Mediatheque.
その後、宮城県警察から「非行防止のため午後9時に子供たちに帰宅を促す音楽を流してほしい」と要請があり、『新世界より』ラルゴが使用された。間もなく午後9時の曲は『この道』に変更された。従業員がキーボードで手動演奏していたと伝えられるが、仙台メディアテークにはこのサイレン用の「この道」音曲カムが現存する。

On July 15, 1987, the music siren broke down due to an issue with the shaft, and although briefly revived in September of the same year, it was fully discontinued. The music siren was removed by 1988.
1987年7月15日、シャフトの不具合でミュージックサイレンは故障。同年9月に一時復旧したものの、完全に廃止された。ミュージックサイレンは1988年までに撤去されている。
