Uwajima Castle 宇和島城

The tradition of telling time by siren started in 1960 for Uwajima City, when an 8-note music siren was installed at the back of Uwajima Castle. It had begun operations by April of that same year, but was replaced in 1970 by a model 10B music siren. Thank to photographs dating to back then (that we sadly cannot share), we now know that the music sirens were installed in the same place as the second-generation music siren, installed in 1991.
宇和島市におけるサイレンによる時刻告知の伝統は、1960年に宇和島城の裏手に8音階のミュージックサイレンが設置されたことに端を発します。同年4月までに運用が開始されましたが、1970年に10B型ミュージックサイレンに置き換えられました。当時撮影された写真（残念ながら公開することはできません）のおかげで、これらの音楽サイレンが、1991年に設置された第2世代のミュージックサイレンと同じ場所に設置されていたことが現在わかっています。

In 2013, the music siren was discontinued to a malfunction in the timer, and ever since, Uwajima City's Disaster Prevention Broadcast system has replaced it. Fortunately, the songs played by Uwajima Disaster Prevention Broadcast are high-definition audios of the Uwajima music siren, and each song is still played according to the music siren's schedule.
2013年、タイマーの故障により音楽サイレンは運用を停止し、それ以来、宇和島市の防災放送システムがそれに取って代わっています。幸いなことに、宇和島防災放送で流される楽曲は、宇和島音楽サイレンの高音質版であり、各楽曲は依然として音楽サイレンのスケジュールに従って流されています。
