The sun is dark (tiddle-om)... The skies are grey (tiddle-om)... since my sweetie (pom)... went away.

We've noticed a song by Aletha Dickerson recorded in 1926 by Ozie McPherson "I'm So Blue Since My Sweetie Went Away". But there is no mention of "sun is dark" or "skies are grey" in the lyrics of this recording. May be all the verses were not recorded - It must be checked in the music score (to be found).
We've excluded the 1923's song "My Sweetie Went Away" by Roy Turk and Lou Handman. As its lyrics are not in line with those sung by Orlo Vosper (there is not even "since").
Resuming his seat on the music stool, he began to sing once more.
'The sun is dark (tiddle-om)... The skies are grey (tiddle-om)... since my sweetie (pom)... went away', sang Orlo Vosper, and Gloria Salt, in her bedroom above, clenched her hands as the words came floating in through the open window and stared before her with unseeing eyes.
