As part of my Eagle Scout Project, I was required to plan, budget, fundraise, and complete a project that benefitted the community. I chose to build benches and install them around a public use area.
Fundraising took place at a local craft fair, where I sold hot dogs and other concessions. I was able to make enough money for the project as well as food and other requirements for my volunteer helpers.
As part of this project, I learned how to organize a personal project from start to finish, from initial brainstorming to planning to fundraising and budgeting and finally to completion. The benches that I installed are still there, years later, and have been used countless times.
