FIRST is a collection of four programs designed to bring extended STEM education to the K-12 schooling system. Although the face of the programs are robotics, it is also designed to teach "core values," such as Gracious Professionalism, which is the idea that competition does not inherently mean animosity, and that it is possible to help competitors while competing.

As part of FIRST alumni, I am constantly finding opportunities to help current participants have the same great experience that I had in the program.
As part of FIRST Lego League, I served as a referee in competitions over five years, serving in at least two regional competitions and one scrimmage per year, as well as mentoring teams at the competition. I have also mentored several teams per year, with consistent success.
As part of FIRST Tech Challenge, I served on a panel for the FIRST Tech Challenge Kickoff in South Carolina, which I also helped organized. As part of this role, I answered audience-submitted questions with a panel of seniors from several successful teams.
In all of my teams, a primary concern was spreading enthusiasm about FIRST and STEM in the general community. We ran a series of outreach events in the community.
