The Intercollegiate Rocketry Competition (IREC) is an international competition where teams build rockets to compete under a set of criteria, including accuracy of parachute deployment, apogee accuracy, payload and mechanical design, and overall rocket design

• Initially led a small team to brainstorm mechanical innovations on the rocket

• Oversaw a vote for the final decision, to use a parafoil instead of a parachute for better control over the descent

• Contributed significantly to the design of the parafoil control and deployment mechanisms

• Designed the avionics bay to house control electronics

• Worked closely with electronics team to assess needs and preferences for the avionics bay

• Used water jet to cut bulkheads for the avionics bay and other components of the rocket

• Taught newer team members Solidworks and engineering fundamentals
