The Intercollegiate Rocketry Competition (IREC) is an international competition where teams build rockets to compete under a set of criteria, including accuracy of parachute deployment, apogee accuracy, payload and mechanical design, and overall rocket design
Initially led a small team to brainstorm mechanical innovations on the rocket
Oversaw a vote for the final decision, to use a parafoil instead of a parachute for better control over the descent
Contributed significantly to the design of the parafoil control and deployment mechanisms
Designed the avionics bay to house control electronics
Worked closely with electronics team to assess needs and preferences for the avionics bay
Used water jet to cut bulkheads for the avionics bay and other components of the rocket
Taught newer team members Solidworks and engineering fundamentals
