During the events of Age of Ultron, Pietro was determined to bring an end to Tony Stark, and in turn the Avengers. So he worked with Ultron, thinking that would allow him to do that. However, Wanda managed to see Ultron's true plan of destroying the world, and he turned against Ultron. He fought and protected the citizens of Sokovia as he helped them evacuate. He even used himself as a human shield to protect Hawkeye and a random kid from a spattering of bullets from a gatling gun that was firing at civilians.

Canon Divergence: Pietro did not die in Sokovia. He was on the precipice of death due to his numerous gunshots, but SHIELD was able to stabalize him. He was unconscious for quite some time as his body, with the help of SHIELD, attempted to heal itself. After about a month, he finally woke up. For the most part, he was healed, and only had to do minor physical therapy. However, he would never be without the wounds to remind him of what happened.

Once he was awake, and good enough to fight, he joined the Avengers alongside Wanda. Never wanting to leave her by herself, he supported every decision she made. In regards to the Sokovia Accords, he sided with Cap. Refusing to sign himself away to people that could be corrupted. During the fight against Thanos, he had to watch as his sister disintegrate. Leaving him with nothing, he had to learn how to pick up the pieces. Instead of wallowing in self-pitty, he chose to help people as much as he could. For the five years after the snap, he went around the world, giving aid to those that needed it.

Overall, Pietro's first concern is Wanda. Ever since their parents' deaths, he has always aimed to protect her. He also has a need to protect others, and do what he believes is right. While he may never fully forgive Stark and the role he played in his parents' deaths and almost destroying the world, he will always put his personal feelings aside to protect people.

In regards to X-Men: I primarily write Pietro as being a part of the MCU, not the X-Men universe. That being said, I am more than willing to write interactions with X-Men characters. I am also not opposed to writing Pietro as Erik's son. Though, Pietro is not his biggest fan, and wants very little to do with him. The only real difference in Pietro's timeline if I'm writing him as Erik's son, is that the man he considers his father was his adoptive father. Pietro and Wanda's mother gave birth to the twins and soon after met the man they would call their father. Despite the fact that he was their step-father, Pietro didn't know until he was an adult and he met Erik. To him, his step-father is his real father, and the man never treated him as if he was anything less than his son. So Pietro doesn't consider Erik his father.
