Appropriate Management Level
Background
The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for managing America's Wild Horses.
Their current plan is to ADD to the already 80,000 horses held in corrals. The life cost to the Taxpayer for each animal is approximately $50,000.00. The 2023 Budget Request from the BLM is expected to include a 60 percent increase for care of captured animals.
In 2013 a report by the National Academy of Sciences summarized the BLM management program as follows:
Continuing “business as usual” will be expensive and unproductive for BLM and the public it serves.
