FARM BILL LINE ITEM OVERSIGHT
Congress is the only means of significant revision to the management agenda for the Bureau of Land Management.
It is time to CHALLENGE the budgets for BLM and FS.
Why does Congress continue to fund failed management practices, operated without respect for taxpayer intent. Broken management is incentivized by money from corporate agriculture and posterization of natural resources.
Revenue streams from grazing lease and natural resource exploitation are misrepresented in the current budget proposal.
Both the grazing program and the management of natural resources are destroying the environment. The BLM's own data conclusively proves these assertions.
The BLM is not tasked by statute to be respectful of the public interest in Wild Horses.
Taxpayers only recourse - Congress must initiate transparent, unbiased review of the annual BLM budget request - part of the annual 'Farm Bill'.
Even cursory inspection reveals an operation which wastes taxpayer money rounding up and caring for 'unauthorized' Wild Horses.
Stopping the waste and implementing management practices respectful of the echo systems can only be accomplished by Congress.
Because the 1972 Wild Horse and Burro Protection Act overlooked declaring the Wild Horses 'native species' their management has been implemented for the benefit of large for profit corporations.
Changing how the Wild Horses are managed will return hundreds of millions of dollars in savings.
Board Members terms expire so that three positions are refilled annually. Representation for the Wild Horses is not part of the statutory design of the Board. Nomination of members without connection to special interests or for profit conflicts is critical to the preservation of the wild horses.
