Choir Club

Read the reviews for our School Choir Pupils.

They bring so much joy to our community and we could not be prouder of them.

If you would like to get involved then pop in to E1 on Wednesday & Friday lunch times with the wonderful Miss Rouse!

Walkden High Choir visit Health Cottage Residential Home to spread some Christmas joy.

I go to choir club because it is a fun way to interact with other people. You get to go on trips out of school; You gain lots of useful experience for the future; and you go out and entertain the community with music. You don't just sing you learn how to harmonise and do cool tricks with your voice. Most seasons you learn new songs about them: in winter you learn Christmas songs. We perform in an expression showcase - lots of acts - which is really fun. I would recommend this club to anyone who wants to learn how to sing, or is looking to push themselves further in their singing career.

Jake Percival,

Year 7

The club takes place every Wednesday and Friday lunch time. Its set in E1. Its good to go to extra curriculum clubs because you can tell other people when you get a job about the activities in school.

I enjoy going to Mrs Rouses singing club because its nice to be around people that have the same hobby as you.Its also a great club because everyone tries their best and as the result of that we get lots of different trips to sing in front of People in care homes , The Mayor and in The Ellesmere Centre.

It has allowed me to go to places such as the Ellesmere centre, a Care home and even the mayors parlour. It has given me a way to meet new friend and learn some of my favourite songs.

Year 9

I enjoy choir because we get to show off our hard work at fun performances and everyone gets along very well , from being in choir I have met new friends and had the opportunity to meet the mayor of Salford .

I would like to tell you a little bit about choir . It takes place every Wednesday and maybe a Friday but you will be informed by the club leader wether it is or isn't on on a Friday. This club is ran by the amazing Miss Rouse the music teacher based in the expression zone (E1). The good thing is is that it counts as extra curricular, if you attend every session at the end of half term/full term breaks she will put 10 achievement points on the system.

You are allowed by Miss rouses permission to eat in the classroom but be aware that any mess you make is you responsibility and you MUST clean it up. Also if you ask very politely she can give you a pass to allow you inside if you are sent out and also in the expression zone because sometimes you may not be allowed into the expression zone because a teacher asked nicely if you can leave the zone so if you would enjoy a challenge and something to do then this would be the club for you and if you attend the club like I do you may get opportunities to do these things like I did;

Go and sing in walkden

Do the express yourself showcase

Singing in a care home

And we got to go and see the mayor in his parlour as a result of singing in walkden so if you would like an amazing opportunity to do any of these things then get stuck in and have fun with it. But before all of that come on a Wednesday and speak to miss rouse so that she can take you in a room so you can be put in high or low part of the group but with all of that said come up and join us we would love somebody new to the group. Thankyou for taking your time to read this

I go to choir because it is fun and you get to go to trips like care homes. You also learn new skills with your voice.

Noela Ruhana Year 8

I attend in the care home (Health Cottage) in Swinton. I'm developing in my voice because I might choose music for my option for Y9. I think this is a good opportunity for you. I would love to recommend you to go because this could become you one day if you take it up.

Chardonnay Agoglia Year 8

I attend choir on a Wednesday and Friday with Miss Rouse in E1. By attending this club I have had so many opportunities in life which people who are not in this club would not off had, for example we all got to go meet the mayor of Salford and sang for all the workers and people in his parlour. It is also a fun way to interact with people and will be a useful experience for the future. We also got to be apart of the Christmas showcase. Personally i would recommend this club to everyone and if you are thinking of picking music as a GCSE it is a great starting experience.

Layla Richards Year 8

I attend singing club which is hosted by Mrs Rouse in the expression zone. It improves your vocals(obviously!)and your team-working skills making it a great, worthwhile club to attend. I love attending this club as I have a passion for singing, it also makes me use my lunchtime efficiently; improving on a skill. I have been on some fantastic trips out of school and have been involved with the Christmas showcase due to my attendance. The dates may vary, but typically it is active on Wednesdays at the start of lunchtime.
