Focus Group Discussion 2

11-23 November 2021

Purpose of our Focus Group Discussions?

To:

1)   Enable participants to review the key discussion points related to their topic that were identified as a priority during workshop 2

2) Further discuss the steps that are required to achieve the action in this area and explore opportunity to link with other actions in the system

The focus group discussions were facilitated by Jenny Gillespie (lead discussion), Lorna Murray (live mapping, Kumu and monitor of chat), Mia Gonzalez-Noda (support discussion) and Caitlyn Kydd (note taker).

In advance of our focus group discussion, participants were given an information sheet to remind them of the events that occurred in workshop 2.  Participants offered existing or planned actions that could be added to the Kumu map.

Our conversation topics were: 'Safer/Greener Streets'& 'Development of PE' & 'Community Cook-it' & 'Licensing and Secondary School Lunch'.

Each group was recorded and we were able to take notes and live edit our Kumu map.

Thanks to all 21 participants for sharing their views and opinions.

Discussions with Children and Young People

An additional three focus group discussions involving 11 children (aged 10-12 years) and 23 young people (aged 13-18) from 1 primary school and 7 secondary schools took place during this time, taking a different format using Ketso boards and post-it notes.

The focus group discussions were facilitated by Jenny Gillespie, Caitlyn Kydd and Megan MacDonald.

The discussions centred around 3 of the 4 actions including 'Safer/Greener Streets', 'Development of PE' & 'Licensing and School Lunches'.

The pictures below show the results and findings from our discussions.
