Dundee Healthy Weight Partnership

The Dundee Healthy Weight Partnership (DHWP) was established in 2016,following the decision of the Health, Social Care & Wellbeing Executive Board to include obesity prevention within Dundee’s Local Outcome Improvement Plan (LOIP).

There was a focus on Early Intervention & Prevention across the lifecourse and the desire to work in partnership with other planning groups, on behalf of the Dundee Partnerhsip.  DHWP brought together all those in the city who had an interest in and felt able to contribute to reducing levels of obesity in the population of Dundee, whilst recognising the complex causes of obesity and that those living in communities marginalised by poverty are at greatest risk.

The purpose of DHWP group is to address the health related inequalities in obesity risk across the lifecourse, alongside local people living in Dundee and to champion and oversee the implementation of Tayside’s Child Healthy Weight Strategy within Dundee and report via Tayside Regional Improvement Collaborative (TRIC)Health and Wellbeing- priority group 3.  DHWP hosts the ‘core working group’ of Dundee’s Whole Systems Approach to Child Healthy Weight.

DHWP has a multi-agency membership of around 30 individualus (15 active) .

The terms of Reference, purpose and membership of  DHWP is currently unde review  (indicative timescale end of 2023).

Moving forward we aim to make DHWP meeting agenda's and notes available on this website.

It is hoped that Diet and Child Healthy Weight related work in Angus and Perth & Kinross will sit alongside existing Child Poverty /  Best Start Bright Futures groups.
