Action Mapping - a tool used to identify/map any future as well as current plans/actions against obesity.

Focus Group Discussions - a technique used to gather people with similar backgrounds to discuss a certain topic that they all have in common with the presence of a moderator to guide the discussion.

Shared Vision Statement - a vision that is a clear and aspirational statement of what the whole systems approach is trying to achieve, uniting stakeholders from different backgrounds.

System Mapping - encourages stakeholders to think about the factors that cause obesity along with the health promotion approaches.  It enables to stakeholders to understand how the system is working and why current approaches are not working.  Stakeholders will be able to locate their role within the system.

Tayside Healthy Weight Strategy - the start of a social movement so that children, young people and their families in Tayside can eat and drink well, enjoy playing outdoors, being active and have a healthy weight.

Whole Systems Approach - a local whole systems approach responds to complexity through ongoing and flexible work, enabling stakeholders to come together to share an understanding of the reality of the change, consider how the local system is operating and where the greatest opportunity for changes are.
