Jungle Cruise will receive a few large updates to both address some of the attractions dated and insensitive content, and expand the ride while introducing some brand new magic.
The changes start at the Native Village, which has become a brand new Crocodile beach. After leaving the dangers of the Hippopotamus Wading Pool, guests are immediately plunged into the waters of croc-infested waters. A small group lay on the beach, staring silently at passing guests. A few wade around the water, circling the passing boats. One croc seems very annoyed by a bird that's on its head - it keeps loudly pecking him.
The temple has also changed slightly. The Khmer Rouge temple and Elephant Bathing Pool aren't the end of the cruise yet. Jungle Cruise has been expanded. After making a hard right out of the Bathing Pool, guests find themselves deep within the Amazon Rainforest. A slew of animals native to South America are featured here, including multiple gags that I'm not paid nearly enough to try writing. The boats circle around Falco's Flight before entering another temple, this one themed to the Aztec empires.
However, this new temple doesn't seem quite as abandoned as its Cambodian counterpart. No, an Aztec god still lives in this flooded temple and he seems very unhappy to have guests. After passing a massive animatronic statue the boats finally make it out of the temple and back to civilization, but not before passing the famous, and generous, Trader Sam who offers his wares just as he always has.
The new Jungle Cruise doesn't aim to change the original, but expand upon it and introduce new experiences to the tried and true formula.
