After the success of the initial Skyliner routes, Disney looked to expand the system. Phase 2 of the Skyliner is a new line extension to Disney Springs (as well as Typhoon Lagoon) as part of the Most Magical Celebration. It will be called the "Skyliner Gold" in new nomenclature. The Disney Springs station will be located on the west side of the complex in the Strawberry Parking Lot (in part, to allow for the shortest connection to the rest of the Skyliner network). Although this is the least-utilized part of the Springs (on a positive note, this means that there is space that is rather easy to convert), it is near boat transportation, which can be used to get guests to other parts of the Springs. In addition, Cirque de Soleil (Fantasia) as well as Neighbors restaurant and Exposition Downs are near this station, so the Skyliner would help with dispersing crowds after shows. Although it is a relatively long distance from the Caribbean Beach Resort Station to Disney Springs (1.12 miles to Typhoon Lagoon and then an additional 0.67 miles to Disney Springs), Disney could use the Springs Station in a future Skyliner expansion to other resorts on this east side of WDW (e.g. Black Forest Resort and Spa). A gift shop will be included at the Disney Springs Station that will sell Skyliner merchandise.
A potential Phase 3 extension to Blizzard Beach/Coronado Springs and Animal Kingdom will be studied in the future.
The Monorail & Skyliner System Map shown below, which is designed similar to the maps found in the world's busiest public transportation networks, conveys a lot of transportation information for guests. The Skyliner Gold line is shown as S4 on the map. Standard hours of operation still apply for all of Disney Transportation.
