Istanbul: The City on Two Continents
Istanbul is a unique city. Istanbul is quite populous (some estimate it to be the fifth most populous city in the world). Istanbul is located in two continents (Asia and Europe). Istanbul is thought of, too, where the East meets the West.
This new walk-through exhibit is part of a new marketplace building constructed to the right of the current pavilion. Using the Istanbul locations from the “Ballooning Over Turkey” ride as a starting point, guests will come away from this new walk-through exhibit (sponsored by the Government of Turkey) having learned much about Turkey’s largest city. Peaceful Turkish music will play in the background as guests visit the following stops:
Bosporus Straight (the body of water which separates Asia from Europe)
Dolmabache Palace
Hagia Sophia
Blue Mosque
Hospital of Divrigi (a UNESCO World Heritage site)
Grand Bazaar
Sultanahmet Square
The Basilica Cistern
Galata Tower
Topkapi Palace
Sponsored by Turkish Airways: Istanbul International Airport (the busiest airport in the world; Turkish Airways allows for a 24-hour stopover at no additional cost)
