This example describes the setup of a MAXinBOX 16 Plus so that it has a timer set to run a light connected to an output for a set period of time and then automatically turn off. This event will be triggered from a TMD Plus 4 button.
The General configuration for the MAXinBOX 16 Plus is described on a previous page –Light On-Off . This page will focus on the setup of the single Output of the MAXinBOX 16 Plus on Output 14 so that a Timer turns a light on for a set period of time.
MAXinBOX 16 Plus Output configuration
In this instance we select the ‘Timers’ for Output 14.
Once the Timers are enabled (previous step) the following shows how the SIMPLE TIMER is set for 2 minutes duration.
Group Objects on MAXinBOX 16 Plus
Enabling Timers (previous step) results in two Group Objects becoming available. We will subsequently link the Timer Group Object (shown in image below) to a TMD Plus 4 button.
The General configuration for the TMD Plus 4 is not shown in this document, but is the same as in a previous page – Light On-Off . This document focuses on settings required for the single button of the TMD Plus 4 which will be responsible for turning the light on by linking to the Timer for the Group Object of the Output (in this instance Output 14) of the MAXinBOX 16 Plus device.
TMD Plus 4 Configuration and Group Objects
The configuration of the TMD Plus 4 Button is the same as shown in the – Light On-Off page as are the Group Objects associate with the A2 TMD Plus 4 Button – that we’ll use in this instance (these Group Objects are shown below).
Starting the timer and turning the light on
In this instance we need to link the Group Objects from the TMD Plus 4 and the MAXinBOX 16 Plus via a Group Address as shown below. Note: that in this instance we link to the Timer Group Object of the MAXinBOX 16 Plus and this link is what will cause the Actuator Output to turn on and start the 2 minute timer. If this is compared to an On/Off (without a Timer where we manually want to turn the light on and off) then the only difference is that the ‘249 [O14] Timer’ Group Object would not be involved, but rather replaced with another On/Off Group Object for the actuator.
Controlling the LED associated with the Button on the TMD Plus 4
Regardless of whether we are using a Timer (as shown in the previous section) or simply turning the actuator On/Off by manually pressing the TMD Plus 4 button the linkage between the status of the actuator Output is exactly the same as shown below.
