This page describes the TMD4 Plus 4 (image below) setup to control a 230v LED light via a MAXinBOX 16 Plus (image below) Output. This explanation includes a lot of detail as it was the first KNX setup I worked through and implemented in ETS. Subsequent setups of further KNX functions contain less detail and may refer back to this. If you are trying to use any of these subsequent steps this may be a good starting point.
To get started with ETS I've detailed some basics here Basics. I've also created and shared a YouTube video that explains the setup for linking a TMD4+ button to an actuator channel and this complements the details below. A link to the video is here: https://youtu.be/pk-h-PvlHho.
To complete the following configuration of the TMD4+ you need to access the Device in ETS and go to the 'Parameters' tab. The 'Parameters' tab is on shown on the lower part of the image below.
General Configuration
The General Configuration was as per the following image.
Led Brightness and Touch Locking Configuration
The Led Brightness and Touch Locking have several group objects (shown below) associated with the parameter settings. These functions, respectively, allow for the LEDs on the TMD to be set to a less bright state at night and the abilty to lock the TMD panel for purposes of cleaning or other respectively. I will not make use of these group objects in the setup described on this page, but may in subsequent descriptions.
Main Button Configuration
In this situation all buttons are set to individually control the lights and fans - although we will be focusing here on Button A1.
Button A1 Configuration
A1 button will be configured as shown below.
Group objects on TMD4 Plus
There are two Group Objects we will make use of for Button A1. The following highlights these two Group Objects. However, the comments I have written in red boxes are not exactly correct. The first Group Object shown no. 14 does not technically turn the actuator on, but rather it can be linked to a group address which can also be linked to a group object on an actuator (in the details below - a MAXinBOX 16 Plus) which results in the turning on and off of the associated light. The second red box referring to Group Object number 18 is also slightly incorrect. This Group Object will control the status of the LED light and can reflect whether the corresponding TMD button has been pressed and the state of the actuator, but it's entirely dependent on the linking of Group Object to Group Addresses.
While not going through all the settings on the MAXinBOX 16 Plus – the following indicates the main settings in place to get this to operate.
General Configuration
The General Parameter settings on the MAXinBOX 16 Plus are shown below.
Output Channel Configuration
In this instance Output 13 will be used to turn the study light on and off. The following image shows this setup which includes Output 13.
Group objects on MAXinBOX 16 Plus
There are two Group Objects associated with the actuator outputs that I make use of in this setup. These relate to turning the output On or Off and to allow other devices to receive the status of the output. The following shows these two Group Objects for the single Output which is connected to the Study light.
Turning the a light on and off
The following shows the link between the A1 button of the TMD4 Plus and the MAXinBOX 16 Plus Output. This link allows the TMD to toggle the output (and therefore the light) On and Off.
