The book covers racial identity and how we view one another. It is important that students understand that although everyone is different, we are all human. The students have the opportunity to self-reflect on themselves, their family and their community.

It is essential that all students expand their knowledge and obtain an understanding of the hardships that the Indigenous community faced and the challenges they currently face today. The book depicts her determination in keeping her Indigenous roots alive. She fought for what she believed in. It was her mission to save Nibi (water). Her story inspired many people across Canada. This book can be read at all grade levels due to the diverse ideas, topics and subjects.

All the cohorts from the education program gather together virtually to participate in a growing festival. The purpose of the festival was to have a variety of groups create a presentation that covers the concept of growing that is found within the different sections of the social studies curriculum document. My group members and I chose to focus on growing as a culture and foods that are associated with family traditions.

I created a video that showcases my Italian heritage. My family has a tradition of eating pasta every Sunday with our homemade tomato sauce. Every year my family goes over to my Nonna's (grandmother) house to make the sauce from scratch. I will pass on these traditions when I have my own family. At the end of the video, there is a short interview that I conducted with my Nonna Rose.
