This image is from a 2017 movie called Gifted. The movie is about a seven-year-old child named, Mary. In the classroom Mary is bored and makes sarcastic comments towards her teacher because the class is learning simple math concepts. The work is not challenging enough for Mary. Her teacher begins to believe that Mary is disruptive. As a joke, the teacher provides Mary with a complex math question. As Mary solves the question her teacher realizes that Mary is a gifted child.

The image displays Mary's dedication and focus in solving the math equation she was assigned. The strategy of providing gifted children with complex material will assist them in further developing and enhancing a variety of skills. Children should be constantly challenged in order to capture their attention in class. In the movie, Mary is contemplating whether to transfer to a gifted school or accelerate to the next grade. Depending on the child, it may be beneficial for them to accelerate to a higher-grade level or skip certain grades altogether (The Ontario College of Teachers, 2020). If Mary decides to stay in her current classroom, the teacher will need to provide her with a deeper curriculum. For instance, in science class if the children are being taught about life cycles, Mary should be provided with sophisticated articles that would challenge her thinking (The Ontario College of Teachers, 2020). Mary would still be learning the curriculum but in a way that would challenge her thinking.
