A City of the Thousand Wells

Isaura

I chose the city of the thousand wells, Isaura, because it reminded me of the ancient times where people would draw up water from wells. My general conceptual and aesthetic goals in visualizing Isaura was to make it look realistic, yet medieval.

For this project, I was inspired by the olden days and medieval period where people used wells to draw up water for their villages. Also, when I first read the description of this city, it reminded me of the environment/setting in a game, especially the wells. Therefore, my intention was to draw the audience's attention towards the numerous wells in this city because Isaura is the city of a thousand wells. To make the buried lake, I put an emphasis on the stalactite because it is underground.

Some challenges I experienced was making a box because it would usually end up being too small or too big. I didn’t know how to change the size of the box without deleting it and making it accurate. I ended up deleting every mistake I made and kept on eyeballing the shape to adjust the size I wanted. Another challenge I experienced was using BooleanDifference. I tried to use it on a plane for the grass, but it didn't cut out the part that I wanted, so I just used a lot of planes to cover the ground.

To make my project better next time, I would like to make my project more detailed with the buildings. I wanted to make the buildings more cabin/old like and add doors or windows to achieve an antique feelings, but I only used a wooden texture for it. I would also like to make my city’s scale bigger, so I could add more wells, buildings, and windmills.

Thank you!!!
