Pedro Andrade is a Sociologist and Researcher at University of Minho, Communication and Society Research Centre.

Phd in Sociology of Culture at New University of Lisbon-UNL, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences-FCSH (2002).

TEACHING at University of Coimbra - Faculty of Economy (1988-2001) and at University of Lisbon - Faculty of Fine Arts (2003-2007), in the areas of Sociology of Culture, Communication, Sociological Methods and Digital Humanities. Among other chairs (Sociologies of Everyday-Urban Life Styles, Communication, etc.), in 1995, at Univ. Coimbra, Faculty of Economics, within the internet emergence years, he organized and taught Sociological Information Sources chair, the 1st classes in Portugal to teach how to search on line data for sociological research. In 2004, at Univ. of Lisbon, within social networks rising years, teaching of Digital Libraries and e-learning chair, one of the first to help sociological research at social networks (students blogs, LibraryThing user groups, etc.).

Major areas of RESEARCH: urban cultures, art communication, art and science museums, literacies, digital social networks (Web 2.0/Web 3.0), methodologies and hybrimedia. Since 7th March 2020: sociology of Covid-19 pandemic, research and debates on viral society, viral economy, viral policies/politics, viral ecology, viral city, viral tourism, viral interculturality, etc.)
