CRS 625, Current Issues in Creative Studies, is also known as "The Big Question Class". At the beginning of the semester you formulate a topic or question related to creativity that you might be curious about. For me, I wanted to find out more about the effects of creativity on our mental health. I was struggling with my mental health and was interested in how creativity to could play a larger role in my life. And as a stressed out seociety, how we could all benefit from more "little-c" activities to improve our well-being.Â
"An individual who believes in their abilities may reach for everyday creativity more often and create a routine that is helpful rather than hurtful. When someone is learning how to cook, they may hesitate and second guess their decisions, they may struggle with holding a knife. Someone who is determined to be a cook will keep pushing through trial and error. If they can begin to see evidence they can cook, it is easier to believe in the idea they can cook. Cooking becomes a routine, and the same attitude can be applied to creativity."
