For CRS 670 Megan Sweeney, Tito Ruiz, and I presented a TIM lesson exploring connections between Little-c creativity (Everyday Creativity) and well-being. Our creativity skill for this lesson was curiosity.
To heighten anticipation I made the ad below titled Steady Curiosity. These ads were placed on each of our classmate's desks to hint at the creativity skill for the lesson. I also chose the informercial in the first slide that we had playing as people walked in.
We asked our classmates to create a "Bug List" of everday frustrations. This was a divergent thinking activity that continued to heighten their anticipation.
Our next activity in the lesson involved a limited ingredient list, where participants had to come up with meal using the limited ingredients we provided them. This activity deepened expectations for our lesson because it challenged our classmates to use their problem solving skills to find a solution for a real-life problem.
We finished the lesson by revisiting the "Bug List" and provided each participant with a worksheet during a Think-Pair-Share. This worksheet continued to challenge our classmate's problem solving skills by taking frustrations from the "Bug List" and coming up with solutions to turn frustrations into everyday creativity opportunities. This activity extended the learning as our classmate's could take one of their solutions and try it out in real life.
