Held every Wednesday afternoon in the CSBC (Sub-basement in critical care building). Attending is either the GI or Hepatology attending (rotates every week and is listed in the weekly on-call email)
Patients are scheduled starting at 11:30 am and typically will all arrive at the beginning of the clinic (even if scheduled for later). RN will then room patients individually. Fellow should arrive around 12:30pm and plan to see all of the patients sequentially and then call/page the attending to round. The patients are then all seen together with the attending. At this point, lab orders are placed and the required paper documentation for the correctional facility is filled out.
Once results from the lab tests are available and notes are complete (typically Thursday AM): call the inmate clinic staff at 804-325-2720 or message Lakeisha Carthorn and cc: Hsiao-Lan (Vicky) Chou and ask them to fax all of the clinic notes and labs to the appropriate providers.
For a critical result (i.e. new HCC found on ultrasound), call the correctional facility and ask to either speak to or leave a message for the provider at the facility to communicate plans (i.e. patient is being scheduled from an MRI).
If patient is diagnosed with HCC, please message a HCC attending (Dr. Matherly) to be reviewed at HCC MDC Tumor Board.
Inmate clinic needs to be covered every week. If the Ambulatory 2 fellow is unable to cover, it is their responsibility to notify the Ambulatory 1 fellow at least one week prior to clinic via email.
