1. All cases, REGARDLESS of whether they need radiology review or not, should be sent to ALL of radiology staff: Neeraj Lalwani (neeraj.lalwani@vcuhealth.org), Laura Carucci (laura.carucci@vcuhealth.org), Sarah Winks (sarah.winks@vcuhealth.org), Alex Nikazmerad (Alexandra.Nikazmerad@VCUHealth.org), and Mary Ann Turner (mary.turner@vcuhealth.org) by noon on the Monday prior to the Tuesday MDC (any cases sent to radiology after this time will not be reviewed by the radiologist). Please include patient name, MRN, study date, and study type. Please make an effort to include radiology in this important conference. If you have an urgent management issue that does not allow you to give advance notice, you may contact the GI radiology resident at 8-5583.
2. Any active multidisciplinary management issue takes precedence and should be presented first, even if you are not scheduled to present.
3. Of the fellows assigned to present in a given day, priority to present is given to any fellow that did not have a chance to present the last time he or she was scheduled, followed by junior fellows then senior fellows. No fellow should go for two times back to back without presenting.
4. Please try to limit presentations to 25 minutes, including group discussion. Limit the number of slides to 18 or less please. Ideally, you should aim for 15-18 slides total. Discussion slides should include any relevant articles from the literature search that you did (limit the discussion to 1-2 studies). These discussion slides should be 2-4 slides long. A common mistake is to present too much information and not focus on a few takeaway points from your literature search.
5. If a specific surgeon (other other consultant) was involved in the care of your patient, please e-mail him/her/them the week prior for participation in the MDC.
For any colon related cases, email Drs. Bohl, Rivet and Wieghard
For general GI related cases (including esophageal), email to Drs. Rocha Campos, Salluzo (Bariatric and minimally invasive Surgery)
For esophageal related cases, email Dr. Rachit Shah (Cardiothoracic surgery)
