When compared to living on a house farm, they had a really good, large home. The video shows Irish immigrants experiencing a better life in America and a successful move. The family moved for better work opportunities. She has three children, a welcoming area for guests, and her children get along with others extremely well. She attempts to teach her children about Irish traditions, and back then, cooking was done with coal.The girl in the video mentions how her neighbors are German and Irish. This shows how there is a growth in diversity and population in the cities.

Settlement homes were places where immigrants stayed in order to aid newcomers in getting used to life in the United States. These homes were occupied by the immigrants who managed them.

Some services of settlements houses include financial support for the poor, assisted education including helping them learn English, providing childcare for wokring mothers, healthcare, and couseling for the people who were having a hard time getting used to living in the city.
